I graduated from a translation school in Belgium and got BA degree in translation (German/Dutch into French) in 1987.
In 2002 I went on a training course to become a Community Interpreter with the Sussex Interpreting Services, based in Brighton an in June 2006, I obtained the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
I became a language teacher in 2001 and after building up a sound experience in teaching French to adult and sixth form learners and gaining the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Brighton in 2009, I joined the language department at the University of Brighton in February 2011 and in 2017 I went on to teach at the University of Sussex. Our house is located in Hove, Hangleton. Although Hove is part of buzzing Brighton & Hove City, we live in a quiet area with a wide green space at the front (St Helen’s Green) and Benfield Valley Park at the back. A 45 min uphill walk on the Downs will take you directly from the house to the Devil’s Dyke, the local highest point from where you have a breathtaking panorama view on Brighton and surroundings. You might even see the outskirts of London…
There is a very good bus route nearby going to the town centre and the nearest station with a direct link to London is 15 min walking distance. The beach is a short bus ride or 25 min walk away. A superstore is 7 min walk away
There are plenty leisure opportunities in and around Brighton and visitors are welcome to share the daily life of a bi-cultural family including various activities (badminton, country walks, friendly community gatherings, shopping).
There are numerous opportunities for excursions in and around Brighton. There are plenty of things to do whether you are the urban or the countryside type.
