I run a home stay with two bedrooms. I let out the rooms to students who want an immersion English experience, and who want to improve more quickly than at a language school. 1-2- tuition means that your class is right for you. I Iove helping people to make fast progress and to feel proud of their hard work. I like to think that learning a language is like walking a marathon. Your learning journey consists of you walking and studying for a long time. Sometimes, on your marathon journey, you need an intense period of hard work to increase your motivation to keep on. You can think of this time staying with me as a run or perhaps a sprint! You will make great progress. I will give you the tools, the motivation and the confidence to continue walking your learning journey. Most importantly, I will ensure that the classes are just what you need. If your grammar is already strong, perhaps we should focus more on writing skills or speaking. You tell me what you need, and I will design a course to meet your needs. If you need to prepare for a test? I can help.
There is a double room with an ensuite, and another single room, which has loads of storage space. I teach 1-2-1 classes at my dining room table which looks over the garden. You can see birds and squirrels while we learn. Classes are fun of course! I use music and lots of books. I have been teaching EFL since 2000, so have gathered all the best resources! My classes are fun, but importantly, my students make the best possible progress because I tailor classes to them personally. I teach IELTS, FCE/CAE/CPR preparation classes, as well as General and Business English courses.
I love photography, and run a business taking portraits. You will see a lot of art and photography in my home. I love to travel and have been to about twenty-five countries. I have lived and taught in Taiwan, in both Taipei and Kaohsiung, Korea, India, and Colombia, as well as Edinburgh and now here in England. I have helped thousands of learners to improve their English.
I was brought up in the villages near Oxford and Cambridge, so my accent is RP or ‘BBC English’.
I have been studying yoga since I was 17, and have recently started teaching yoga and mindfulness to children. I love learning new skills and meeting new people.

I live in a market town called Keynsham, which has a population of 15,000 people. It is between Bath and Bristol. It takes 20 mins to get to Bath and 30 mins to get to Bristol by car, or 8 mins/10 mins by train. The Bristol Bath cycle path is not far from here, and offers an alternative if you have the pedal power!
It takes 5 minutes to walk to the High Street of my town from my house. My house is in a quiet cul-de-sac, and looks over green fields and hills. I have the best of both worlds really, because it feels like we are in the countryside, but we are 5 mins from supermarkets, restaurants and cafés. We are 1.5 hours from London, and not far from Oxford.
5 mins from Keynsham High Street, this is a roomy family home overlooking a green valley in a quiet cul-de-sac. There is a large productive garden, a garage for bike storage and great views.
Keynsham is a charming market town with a population of about 15,000. It has a wonderful library and civic centre (complete with in situ Roman Mosaic), gyms, supermarkets, restaurants, and parks, as well as tonnes of cafes and restaurants. The river and locks, river boats and boating life is not far, nor is the beauty of the Mendips and surrounding hills, which can be seen from your window.
The front (single) room is bright and light and gets the morning sun. The view down to the valley and river is great and it is hard to imagine how close you are to the busy centre of town. The back (double ensuite) room and looks over the quiet garden. It gets the afternoon and evening sun.
