My name is Margita Dubnicka. I was born in then communist Czechoslovakia but I have been living in the UK and on and off basis since my 20s. Me and my family of 5 have been living in the Uk first in the South East (London and consequently Kent) since 2010. Recently we have relocated to Snowdonia in Wales. I have 3 grown up children – Sofie,22, who lives abroad, Thea,19, who studies dentistry at University in Preston and Emil, soon to be 18, studies for his A-levels and still lives at home with us. All 3 children are bilingual. My partner is Matt – born and bred Londoner who is adapting to rural life in Wales now.
I have had a keen interest in foreign languages and started speaking English in my early teens. My passion for Anglo-Saxon culture led me to study comparative linguistics at university and resulted in my work life based on the English language – either as an interpreter or a teacher. I have taught hundreds of students of different ages and ethnicities for a variety of reasons – be it preparing them for specialised exams or just knowing another language. I used to teach in private language schools – one of which I set up myself. However now I prefer one to one lessons in my home looking after the student and having the student as part of our family.
We lead a quiet family life in rural Wales – there are more sheep than people! We have moved into a large house close to the sea by Shell Island enjoying Snowdonia walks, small quaint picturesque cottage scenery and the stunning North Wales coastline. Our lifestyle is not for those who love the hustle and bustle of the city but for those who like long hikes in the mountains walking through forests and discovering hidden lakes and waterfalls.
Me and Matt have a range of interests. My passion is fine arts and Matt`s passion is music – he is a keen guitar player with his large collection of guitars. We are both film enthusiasts but we tend not to follow mainstream production but love quintessentially British comedy gems like Fawlty Towers or Black Books. I have a keen interest in interior design and we have spent 10 months renovating our new house in Wales.
We are planning to have a dog in near the future but for the time being we have only 2 budgies and one cockatiel.

We are located in the heart of Snowdonia in Wales- it is one of the most popular holiday destinations for the British people. We live in a very small village called Llanbedr which is located in the woods by the coast close to Barmouth and Harlech. Barmouth is a vibrant coastal holiday town with large and long stretching sand beaches and sand dunes. Harlech is nestled at the top of Rinogh hills boasting of a great medieval castle with stunning sea views of Cardigan Bay.
The highest mountain in Wales – Snowdon (1085m) is located 20 miles away from us and there are a number of hiking paths to the summit according to ability. Including absolutely stunning places like Ogwen Valley, Capel Curig and Llanberis. It is inevitable to pass through the village of Beddgelert which was voted one of the most beautiful villages in the UK. Another hiking center in Blaenau Ffestiniog with a rich slate mining history and attractive Zip world.
About 25 mins away from us there is the picturesque Italian style village of Portmeirion which is worth seeing for its unique look and sea views. Further north in Anglesey there is the picturesque Menai Bridge leading to the stunning coastal town of Beaumaris with the breathtaking views of Snowdonia hills, sea and the castle. For wildlife enthusiasts there are boat trips to Puffin island to watch wild birds.
For shopping experience there is the town of Bangor which has all essential high street shops. For a more quirky experience with local produce Machynlleth is more suitable.
Yes, as we are keen walkers we would be taking students hiking in the Snowdonia hills and taking them for trips to nearby places of interest. The closest place is Barmouth which is the combination of a traditional Welsh seaside town, long sand dune beaches and stunning hill tops where the National Trust was first founded.
The second choice will be Harlech with its stunning rural Rhinog mountains hilltops, the medieval castle and breathtaking sand beach.
Next on the list is Porthmadog – popular town with a marina and stunning sea/hills view with Portmeirion which is an enchanting Italianate style village which is a very popular holiday destination. For more advanced hikers there is Snowdon climb which has several hiking trails to the summit which requires being in good physical condition and having high quality hiking boots. I can hike only medium difficulty trails. Another popular summit is Cadair Idris located close to the town of Dolgellau which is a stunning welsh architecture town and with stunning hill views. This region is very versatile as it has either stunning coastal walks or dramatic breathtaking mountain scenery or combination of both. The region is also rich in medieval history with its castles and ancient towns. As we are located in the nature reserve there is hardly any new development and modern houses. The countryside has remained preserved as it is for centuries. A trip a bit further to the north worth seeing is the town of Beaumaris. It has a stunning castle, enchanting sea and mountain views and is one of the most popular places to visit in Wales.
