I am a qualified English teacher with over 30 years teaching experience to students from the age of 3 upwards.I am from England and now live in the Algarve. I currently work in an International school with ages 5 up to 16. I lived in France and ran my own language and hosting business. Adults came to stay for intensive language courses to help them with their business presentations and general English. Children came to stay having lessons designed to suit their needs and after we took part in various activities and outings. Many students came to stay a few times .One child brought his parents who also had lessons.I found it rewarding to see students being able to communicate in English at the end of the week. Many students kept in touch after to let us know how they were getting on. I went on to live in Spain for 2 years where I worked in private language schools giving lessons to children and adults.I also taught Cambridge IGCE English and other Cambridge exam preparation.
I am married and live with my husband and my dog. My interests are water sports and music (playing the piano and trumpet), we have our own yacht and I love being out on the sea to enjoy the nature including watching Dolphins. I also enjoy walking along the coast and visiting the beaches which are close by our home.I am a friendly and approachable person who loves talking to people and helping them to achieve their ambitions.
Sandra is married to Peter and they are partially retired.
We live in a pretty village only 3km from the beach. There are bars and restauants and a supermarket in the village, also a regular bus service to the larger town of Lagos. There are water sports on the beach and boat trips from Lagos. You can go Dolphin watching, visit the caves or a boat trip along the beautiful coastline. There are also sports centres and tennis clubs, horse riding and many fantastic golf courses. lagos is a historical town with museums and tiny streets to wander around. There is a fantastic amount of restauants. There is a thriving marina where you can take boat trips or just sit and watch the sun go down. We are about 18km from the most westerly point in Europe (Sagres) where there is a historical monument and beautiful walks. You can visit the medieval town of Silves where there are more narrow streets and museums and a castle. You can learn about ancient history and look at the architecture. There is a shopping centre with well known shops in Portimao also a walk down the estuary past the old town and down to the Marina. The area is well known for its many beautiful beaches and watersports and also its history and ancient culture.
Yes we would take students to places of interest to them. We would also take them on our own yacht or go on boat trips around the area on faster boats.I would also take them shopping if they want to.
