Irregular Plural Nouns

Most English nouns make the plural with -s or -es (book → books, bus → buses). But some nouns are irregular - they change in a different way.

Same Form in Singular and Plural

Some nouns do not change in plural.

We saw many fish in the river.

deer

A deer is eating grass. Two deer are walking.

moose

We saw a moose / We saw three moose.

aircraft

The aircraft is landing. The aircraft are ready.

Plural-Only Nouns

Some nouns are always plural. We use are with them.

headphones

These headphones are loud.

We can say a pair of: a pair of scissors, a pair of jeans
